Artur Fonseca (20 September 1912 – 16 February 1995) was a Portuguese conductor and composer. He moved to Lourenço Marques in the 1930s, accompanying his father, who was already there, soon being chosen to direct the orchestra of the Radio Clube de Moçambique, a position he held until 1975, when he left the country and moved to South Africa and then moved to the Terceira Island of the açors, where he was invited to constitute the Music Conservatory of Angra do Heroísmo. He returned to Portugal at the age of 82, living in Cascais. Of the several grandchildren he had, one of them, Nuno Radley continued the legacy in the music world as a guitarist and composer. Artur Fonseca was the author of the music of a significant number of Portuguese musical successes, among which: A Portuguese House, published worldwide by Amália Rodrigues, Kanimambo, played by John Maria Tudela.A Portuguese House is one of the most well-known songs in Portuguese music.The music is by Artur Fonseca.
